A great man. If there was anybody who should jet straight to the top of heaven, it was this man. All of us who lived in Ireland Hall or were lucky enough to deal with Msgr. Lavin in any way, shape or form are better people because of it.
Father Lavin touched so many lives because he cared.
Sad day for UST and Ireland Hall alums with passing of Father Lavin today. Who could forget PBJs every Sunday night. He will be missed.
I'm pretty sure they serve pb & j sandwiches in heaven on Sunday nights...or they do now. Thanks for everything Father Lavin. You have no idea on how many 18-year-old kids you helped.

RIP Msgr. Lavin - very few people have ever positively impacted as many people on earth as he did.
Our windows faced one another on the top and bottom bars of the capital "I" of Ireland on the 3rd floor in 2000-2001. Evidently we'd spy on each other quite often. He told me he liked the Christmas tree I put up that winter. As far as I could tell, his room was as cluttered as the one I shared.
Truly the end of an era. My freshman year at St. Thomas, I lived on his floor around the corner from his apartment.
I had the privilege of being on Ireland Hall's 4th Floor during my freshman year at St. Thomas, right around the corner from Fr. Lavin's room. Let's just say I consumed my fair share of "Lavin Burgers" that year...
The University of St. Thomas lost a great one today! Father James (yes, that was his first name) Lavin passed into heaven today. HE was the cornerstone of student life on campus since 1946. If you needed anything you could seek out Scooter and he would very willingly help you out. He was there for three generations of Flanagans and Mischkes. Oh, and nobody made a better PB&J sandwich. God bless, we will miss you Scooter.
